How QUIX contributes to sustainability

QUIX is highly sustainable because it reduces resource needs, it can be produced locally from renewable materials, and it supports reuse and reparability.

Resource conservation

QUIX removes the need for specialized furniture that is only used for certain situations or over a limited period of time. That way, it requires less resources and allows for more efficient use of space.

Renewable materials

QUIX is made of ply wood. Wood is an ecological and renewable material that stores carbon. Ply wood can be produced in a sustainable way with low emissions. Moreover, ply wood is an extremely resistant and durable material.

Local production

QUIX allows for decentralized production because it can be easily produced by any carpenter or furniture maker using a state of the art CNC mill.

Reuse and reparability

QUIX is made of some ten different types of parts that can be reused in any combination or context. Parts can be replaced or repaired individually, so if a part breaks, there is no need to trow away the entire piece of furniture. If there is a scratch on a surface you could either repair it, turn in to the other side, or simply use the part in a less prominent place, e.g. as a back board.
